Director
Kenneth Eng is a Boston native who moved to New York City to study
film making at the School of Visual Arts in 1994. Ken's last film
"Kokoyakyu: High-School Baseball", a documentary film about baseball
in Japan, premiered on July 4th, 2006 as part of POV's 19th season,
PBS's award-winning documentary film showcase. Ken also
directed/edited "Take Me To The River", a feature length documentary
about the Maha Kumbh Mela, the largest gathering in history shot in
India. Ken's student thesis, "Scratching Windows", a short
documentary film about NY grafitti, was also broadcast on July 4th,
1999 on WNET, New York City's PBS "Reel NY".
Cinematographer
Jack Lam is a graduate of New York University, Tisch School of the Arts
with a concentration in cinematography. He was officially nominated
for the A.S.C. John Alonzo Student Cinematographer Award by the
faculty. He then pursued further advancement in his craft by attending
a cinematography master class by FAMU (Film and TV School of the
Acadmy of Performing Arts in Prague) in the Czech Republic.
Jack's body of works in cinematography encompasses a wide range of
genres and styles. He received the Excellence in Cinematography Awards
in the NYU First Run Film Festival for two of his short films, and his
music video works has appeared on MTV Channel. Recently, he has
completed a 35mm feature film "Polycarp" as well as a documentary
series by China Central TV "Ocean's Away".
Producer
Melanie Blair started her career as a writer and producer of a
political talk radio show at Bloomberg News. After graduating with an
MFA from the Peter Stark Producing Program at USC, Melanie then worked
as post production coordinator on Magnificent Desolation: Walking on
the Moon 3D, an IMAX film produced by Tom Hanks. She then went on to
be the main production researcher and the post production coordinator
for another large format, 3D film, National Geographic's Sea Monsters.
In between productions she produced the short film Joburg, in South
Africa, which was featured in the UCLA Directors Spotlight and the
2007 Los Angeles Film Festival. Melanie currently resides in Los
Angeles, is a New York native and has traveled extensively on five
continents.
Producer
Takayo Nagasawa was born in Aomori, Japan and came to New York in
1997. Prior to that, she had worked as an assistant producer and
translator for one of the leading music producers in Japan. After
arriving in New York, she started working as a production assistant,
researcher and associate producer for FUJI TV and KYODO TV working
News program and TV dramas. In 2002, she met director Kenneth Eng and
produced her first feature documentary "Kokoyakyu: High School
Baseball" which was on POV in 2006. She continues to live and work in
New York City.
Producer
Meng Xie was born in Beijing, China. He came to New York in 2006 and
pursued his MA degree in media and film making at The New School.
After graduation from college he worked for CCTV (China Central
Television) as an assistant director. March 2007, he started to work
for documentary series "Oceans Away". Also, he worked as
cinematographer for documentary "The Color of the Courage" and other
independent short films. |
