Tan Yuezhu’s family lived in Chongqing for hundreds of years, but they were forced to move when construction on the government's Three Gorges Dam began. Like some of the 1.3 million displaced residents, Tan Yuezhu’s family resettled on rural Chong Ming Island near Shanghai. They face upheaval in every aspect of their lives - their employment, their home, but more importantly - their history.

The Yuezhu family makes a pilgrimage back to their home village along the Yangtse for a family reunion before their old house is submerged by the rising waters of the Three Gorges.
